Bootcamp & SWAP Bundles

Meeting specific industry needs. Helping learners build confidence, core skills, and career pathways in green sectors.

In partnership with NAPIT Training

Quantum Training, in partnership with NOCN Group, has developed tailored Skills Bootcamps and SWAPs (Sector-Based Work Academy Programmes), which we call bundles, to support individuals in launching meaningful careers across construction, green energy, and education and importantly bringing industry into the classroom. These bundles are ideal for learners seeking to take their first steps into retrofit, sustainability, or educational support roles.

Quantum has played a key role in designing and facilitating the development of these bundles, in collaboration with NOCN Group, to address industry needs. Our primary focus is on retrofit and low carbon technologies, ensuring that these training pathways meet the evolving demands of the sector.

We work closely with Further Education colleges and employers to equip learners with the right mix of practical knowledge, recognised qualifications, and job-focused experience. Additionally, we place a strong emphasis on bringing learning into the classroom, further extending and reinforcing the skill sets of tomorrow’s workforce and preparing them for the challenges of a sustainable future.

Our Bootcamp & SWAP Bundles

Targeted Skills Bootcamps to Support the Net Zero Transition
To drive green skills uptake, Quantum and NOCN Group have developed a series of industry-specific Skills Bootcamps and SWAPs that directly address key barriers — from educator shortages to basic skills gaps, ensuring inclusive, job-ready training pathways.

Bundles

A bundle in the context of these courses, units and qualifications is a structured grouping of related course packages that share a common qualification type, subject area, delivery format, and target age group. Each bundle is designed to provide a focused learning pathway aligned with specific educational or vocational objectives.
Please view the bundles below, and note that Bundles 1-4 can also be run as SWAPs

How can we get Industry into Education?

Bringing industry into education starts by encouraging experienced professionals to move from site-based roles into teaching — even without a traditional academic or teaching background. This helps pass on vital skills to the next generation and keeps industry knowledge alive. It also creates a two-way exchange of experience and learning, supporting personal growth and the future of the sector. Quantum & NOCN have devised two specific bundles to encourage industry professionals to become teachers in Sustainable Energy and Retrofit, by partaking in the below bootcamps:

Bundle 5 - NOCN SERT + AET Skills Bootcamps
Possible job roles
Bundle 6 - NOCN Retrofit Advice + AET Skills Bootcamps
Possible job roles

To further illustrate how Bundles 5 and 6 support getting industry professionals into education and training roles, please see the infographic below.

This infographic shows how Experienced Industry Experts (EIEs) become Educational Trainers (ETs) by team-teaching alongside existing ETs in college. ETs gain up-to-date industry insights, while EIEs learn practical teaching skills. By the end of the Bootcamp, EIEs (who represents their company or who may have direct employer links) can identify suitable learners for employment. Learners benefit from current industry knowledge and real job opportunities — creating a continuous cycle connecting industry, education, and employment. Importantly, ITPs or Colleges who draw down the funds for the Bootcamp can ensure the employer is paid for the release of their EIE.

Benefits of Bootcamps and SWAPs:

Benefits to the employer:

  • Assess candidate suitability before hiring through work placements and interviews
  • Access to a pool of pre-trained, motivated candidates ready to work
  • Reduce recruitment costs and speed up hiring processes
  • Fully funded by government, with additional support available for SWAP-related operational costs

Benefits to stakeholders to run Bootcamps & SWAPS:

  • Support a circular economy where all stakeholders benefit—from new entrants (SWAPs) to experienced professionals (Bootcamps)
  • Keep skilled workers engaged by offering alternative career paths, especially when physical roles become challenging
  • Encourage experienced professionals to transition into teaching, even without formal academic backgrounds

Benefits to the learners:

  • Gain vocational skills in energy efficiency, retrofit advice, teaching, and practical Maths or English in real-world contexts
  • Earn recognised qualifications from NOCN Group valued by employers and training providers
  • Access flexible learning designed to fit around work and home commitments

These bootcamps build capacity across the whole skills pipeline — from entry-level learners to future trainers — and directly support:

  • LSIP delivery and employer confidence,
  • College readiness for green course rollout,
  • SME engagement through accessible, modular training,
  • And a national move toward standardised, inclusive green skills provision.
