NOCN Group have produced this Short Course which is pitched at Level 3, to promote the Foundational Background and Introduction to Air Source Heat Pumps, including what a heat pump is and its functionality, its components, industry requirements and system design

Course Content:

  • Foundational Background and Introduction to Heat Pumps.
  • Hardware Components of an Air Source Heat Pump.
  • System Design Part 1: Heat Loss Calculations and Whole House Method.
  • System Design Part 2: System Sizing Calculations.
  • Installation.
  • Commissioning and Maintenance.

The six modules are taught by the centre’s trainer/assessor using theory, industry resources, group activities and PowerPoints on NOCNs Document Manager platform.

Course Structure:

  • Course Length: 6 weeks or 40 hours (suggested)
  • Minimum Age: 16+
  • Assessment: Modules 1, 2, 3 Assessment: 30 Multiple Choice Questions taken at the end of the Module, taking 50 minutes. Marked by the assessor. 
  • Assessment: Modules 4, 5, 6 Assessment: 20 Multiple Choice Questions taken at the end of the Module, taking 40 minutes. Marked by the assessor.
