Infrared Surface Heating Training Bay

Quantum's Infrared Training Bay provides a hands-on learning environment for understanding the installation, design, and operation of modern low-voltage carbon surface heating systems. Developed as part of our training and demonstration range, the bay is designed to equip learners with the practical skills and sector knowledge increasingly demanded by employers working in low carbon heating and retrofit.

The System: DRYTEC by Energy Carbon

DRYTEC by energy carbon
The bay showcases DRYTEC system by Energy Carbon - one of the leading infrared heating products currently being specified across new build, modular construction, and retrofit projects in the UK. Developed alongside the University of Stuttgart, DRYTEC is installed directly behind plasterboard or drylining with no wet trades required, making it a fast, clean installation that only needs one tradesperson for first fix.
System Specifications
36V SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage)
112 W/m² output
Ultra-thin carbon foil (~0.4mm) installed behind the final wall or ceiling finish
10-year manufacturer's guarantee, 50+ year design life
Zero maintenance once installed
Custom-built
to fit educational and  training needs
Work hand in hand with NOCN Group courses
Comprehensive & cover all aspects of Infrared
Who is this for?

Who Is This For?

This bay is primarily aimed at electricians and electrical apprentices. DRYTEC is a dry-trade system - no plastering or screeding involved - so it sits firmly within the electrician's skill set and represents a genuine commercial opportunity for those looking to diversify into low carbon heating.

Infrared Surface Heating: Heritage Applications

Heritage Applications

Heritage Applications

Infrared surface heating is increasingly being specified in heritage and listed buildings where conventional heating is either impractical or visually intrusive. Because DRYTEC sits behind the finished wall or ceiling surface, it can be introduced with no visual impact - preserving original features, stonework, timber, and historic plasterwork while improving thermal comfort and helping to stabilise moisture within the building fabric. Understanding how and why infrared works in heritage contexts gives learners a genuine advant
Training Applications

Training Applications

Learners working with the bay will develop practical and theoretical knowledge in electric surface heating installation and commissioning, low-voltage transformer connection and safety, thermostat wiring and zone control, system design for new build and retrofit projects, and the principles of radiant heat versus conventional convection heating.

Coming Soon

We are developing additional training bays to cover the wider Energy Carbon product range. Each system requires a different trade skill set, so future bays will open up training to a broader range of learners:

FLEECE

FLEECE is integrated directly into wet plaster on walls and ceilings, also making it ideal for retrofit and heritage projects. Unlike DRYTEC, it requires both an electrician and a plasterer, so this bay will be particularly relevant for plastering and drylining students looking to add low carbon heating to their skill set.

FLEECE S (Moisture Protect)

FLEECE S (Moisture Protect) is applied into plaster around window reveals to control damp and condensation. Again, plastering skills are central here, with a particular focus on heritage and solid wall retrofit applications.
