Quantum Training has entered a new partnership agreement with heating and cooling specialist Daikin UK, strengthening an existing collaboration to bring industry expertise and specialist training into Further Education colleges across the UK.
The partnership responds to a problem the sector knows well. Skills shortages remain one of the largest barriers to the UK’s net zero ambitions, and while there is growing national focus on technical education, colleges need the facilities, the trained tutors and the current qualifications to convert that ambition into a workforce.
Over the next 12 months, the partnership will support 12 Further Education colleges, building on the 46 colleges across the UK where Daikin equipment has already been installed. The focus is on regions where Daikin is working alongside local and combined authorities to accelerate the transition to low-carbon heating.
Each participating college will receive a donated Daikin equipment package, installed by Quantum Training, comprising an air source heat pump, buffer vessel, cylinder and Flexi Feet. Students train on the same technology they will encounter in industry.
Beyond the equipment, Daikin will deliver dedicated tutor training at its National Training Centres, provide ongoing technical support, and work with colleges to promote apprenticeship and career opportunities in the low-carbon heating sector. Daikin will also contribute technical expertise to the development of the Year 3 content for the NOCN Group Low Carbon Heating Technician Diploma, helping ensure the qualification continues to reflect the skills employers need.

The programme will be monitored across the year, measuring college participation, tutor training, equipment installations and student engagement, with the ambition of creating a scalable national model that can support the future skills needs of the low-carbon heating sector.
