Benefits of Solar Thermal Systems
Solar Thermal Systems offer an efficient, renewable solution for heating water and reducing carbon emissions. By capturing solar energy through collectors, these systems provide a reliable and sustainable alternative to traditional water heating methods, leading to:
Lower energy bills and reduced heating costs
Decreased reliance on gas and electricity for hot water
Compatibility with residential, commercial, and industrial applications
Government incentives supporting solar thermal adoption
All our Training Bays feature
three essential sections:
three essential sections:

1. Live Working Bay
This bay allows teachers to demonstrate a fully operational renewable system while learners apply their theoretical knowledge in a live scenario. They will gain hands-on experience in understanding system components and operation principles.

2. Install & Maintenance Bay
Learners will develop practical skills in installing, maintaining, and servicing renewable energy systems. Equipped with industry-standard tools, they will practice installation techniques, routine maintenance, and servicing procedures to ensure system efficiency and reliability.

3. Fault-Finding Bay
This bay helps learners build troubleshooting skills by diagnosing common issues in renewable energy systems. Through guided exercises and purposefully placed faults, they will enhance their problem-solving abilities and gain confidence in resolving system malfunctions.
Installation & Specifications
To ensure seamless integration into your learning environment, Quantum’s Training Bays are designed with precise specifications and installation requirements. All bays are modular, customizable to fit available space, and can be made movable as needed.
Bay
Dimensions
- Each bay measures 2.2m (W) x 1.6m (D) x 2.3m (H), including wall thickness.
- A row of three bays spans 6.4m in total length.
Please note that we can install into any existing bay wall structures even if they are a different size to the one listed above.

Required
Services for
Heating
Technologies
To support the installation of renewable heating systems, the following services must be provided by the college:
- 1 x 15mm mains water supply
- 1 x 50mm waste pipe
- Distribution board with 32A single-phase breakers (Quantum will run power distribution to each bay).

Branding
All of our bays come fully branded as part of the installation. This includes bay headers, an entrance plaque, a technology schematic, and a poster.
