LCL Awards: Design, installation and commissioning of electrical energy storage systems (EESS)

Introduction

This course will teach you:

  • Key requirements for installation of EESS
  • How to identify equipment, arrangements and operating modes, and prepare designs and installation of EESS
  • How to install EESS
  • Key requirements for (and how to conduct) initial verification and handover of EESS

This Level 3 Award, in accordance with the IET Code of Practice for EESS, is a regulated, nationally recognised qualification is recognised by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

Who this course is for

This course is designed for practicing electricians, electrical technicians and engineers with experience of electrical installations and associated inspection and testing. You may want to update your skills, or to use the course as part of your continuous professional development.

Course content

The course takes 20 hours to complete and is made up of a single unit:

  • LCL-E3010: Electrical Energy Storage Systems 

Subjects include (but are not limited to):

  • Key requirements for installation of electrical energy storage systems
  • Equipment, arrangements and operating modes of EESS
  • Design and installation of EESS
  • Verification and handover of electrical energy storage systems

You will complete four practical assessments as you go through the course, with one 90-minute online multiple-choice assessment. 

Course requirements

This qualification is aimed at electricians, electrical technicians, and engineers with experience of electrical installations and associated inspection and testing. Applicants should be working within the electrical industry, ideally hold a formal Level 3 electrical qualification and must hold a current BS7671 qualification.

Everyone who wishes to take part in this course will take an initial assessment to make sure they are able to complete it. That assessment will create a skills map that outlines and identifies any additional training requirements you might need.
