Core renewable technologies

By transitioning to sustainable technologies in the built environment, we can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and pave the way towards a greener and more sustainable future. Quantum’s Renewable Training Facilities are designed to equip learners with the practical skills and knowledge needed to implement these technologies effectively. By embracing renewable energy solutions and upskilling our workforce, we can accelerate the transformation of our homes and buildings, contributing to the overall goal of achieving a net zero carbon economy and workforce.

Key targets include:

  • Achieving a net zero carbon economy by 2050.
  • Installing 600,000 heat pumps per year by 2028, contributing to the decarbonisation of heating in buildings. It is estimated that 27,000 new heat pump engineers will need to be trained within the next six years to meet the 2028 heat pump installation target.
  • Increasing the deployment of Solar PV systems across residential and commercial properties.
  • Expanding EV charging infrastructure to support the widespread adoption of electric vehicles.
  • Enhancing battery storage capacity to enable the integration of renewable energy sources and support grid stability.

Quantum Renewable Training Facilities

At Quantum, we understand the importance of practical training when it comes to renewable energy technologies. Achieving Government targets for energy-saving technologies and the broader transition to a low carbon economy can be achieved only if we retrain and upskill students and professionals to become a net zero workforce. That’s why we have designed state-of-the-art Quantum Renewable Training Facilities specifically tailored to provide an immersive and hands-on learning experience .

Our purpose-built training environments include air source heat pumps, solar PV, solar thermal, EV charging and battery energy storage. These facilities are meticulously designed to replicate real-world scenarios, allowing learners to gain practical skills and knowledge that are essential in today’s rapidly evolving renewable energy sector.

Within each Quantum Renewable Training Facility, you will find three distinct systems – one dedicated to air source heat pump technology, one dedicated to solar thermal heating systems and the other focused on the electrical ecosystem, which includes solar PV, EV charging, and battery energy storage.

Heat Pump System:

Our air source heat pump booths are modular versions of typical household heating systems, comprised of air source heat pumps, pre-plumbed cylinder, volumiser, radiators, underfloor heating and all the valves, piping and water circuitry and controls that you would find in a domestic heating system.

Solar Thermal System:

Our solar thermal booths are modular versions of domestic solar thermal heating systems, comprising solar thermal panels, radiators, underfloor heating and all the valves, piping, circuitry and controls that you would find in a domestic heating system.

Electrical Ecosystem (solar PV, EV charging and battery energy storage):

Our Domestic Energy Ecosystem Booths are modular versions of typical household energy systems, comprised of photovoltaic solar panels, electric vehicle charging points, battery storage, circuitry and controls that you would find in a domestic heating system.

Each system is further divided into three specialised learning environments, or booths, to provide a comprehensive training experience:

  • Live working booth:

In this booth, learners will have the opportunity to work with fully operational renewable energy systems. They will gain experience in understanding the equipment and principles of system operation.

  • Fault-finding booth:

The fault-finding booth provides learners with valuable troubleshooting experience. They will learn how to identify and diagnose common issues that may arise in renewable energy systems. Through simulated faults and practical exercises, learners will enhance their problem-solving abilities and gain confidence in resolving system malfunctions effectively.

  • Install and maintenance booth:

This booth focuses on the practical aspects of installing, maintaining and servicing renewable energy technologies. Learners will find out more about best practices for system installation, routine maintenance procedures and equipment servicing techniques. This booth allows learners to develop the skills necessary to ensure the long-term performance and reliability of renewable energy systems.

Our Quantum Renewable Training Facilities are equipped with industry-leading equipment and technologies, providing learners with a realistic training environment that mirrors the challenges and complexities they will encounter in the field as a future renewable engineer. We continuously update our facilities to incorporate the latest advancements and ensure that our learners are exposed to cutting-edge technologies and industry trends.

By choosing Quantum’s Renewable Training Facilities, you are investing in a transformative learning experience that will empower individuals to become skilled professionals in the renewable energy industry. Whether you are a student embarking on a career path or a professional seeking to enhance your skills, our facilities will provide you with the practical knowledge and hands-on training you need to succeed in the ever-growing renewable energy sector.

How to make the most of your Quantum Renewable Training System

Our renewable training facilities are not just spaces for practical training but also powerful educational tools that can enhance the delivery of our low-carbon training courses such as our Level 2 Introduction to Sustainable Energy Technologies course. By utilising the full potential of our Quantum Renewable Training System, further education colleges can provide their students with a comprehensive and engaging learning experience. Here’s how you can make the most of your Quantum Renewable Training System:

  • Align with the Level 2 Introduction to Sustainable Energy Technologies Course:

Our Quantum Renewable Training System is specifically designed to support the content covered in our Level 2 course. By integrating the practical components of the course into the training system, colleges can seamlessly combine theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. This integration ensures that students gain a deep understanding of sustainable energy technologies and their practical application in the built environment.

  • Utilise the dedicated learning environments:

The Quantum Renewable Training System features specialised learning environments within each booth, including the Live Working Booth, Fault-Finding Booth and Install and Maintenance Booth. These environments align with the practical sessions outlined in our course structure. By utilising these dedicated spaces, colleges can provide students with the opportunity to develop skills in live working scenarios, fault diagnosis and system installation and maintenance.

  • Leverage the cutting-edge equipment and technologies:

Our facilities are equipped with industry-leading equipment and technologies. To make the most of your training system, colleges should encourage students to fully engage with the equipment, familiarize themselves with its operation, and understand the underlying principles.
