Course content

Participants will:

  • Develop a strong theoretical understanding of sustainable energy technologies
  • Gain practical experience working with leading industry equipment in a live working environment
  • Differentiate between renewable and non-renewable energy sources and make informed decisions on specification
  • Understand the physics of energy production, advantages and disadvantages of different systems, and proper installation and maintenance procedures
  • Recognise the importance of low-carbon technologies in achieving decarbonisation targets and transitioning to a net-zero future.

Our comprehensive course is delivered over 36 guided learning hours, consisting of:

Theoretical course content (18 hours):

  • Fossil fuels
  • Global warming
  • Building regulations and strategies
  • Power generation
  • Domestic renewable energy systems
  • Approved persons schemes and heat loss calculations

Practical sessions (18 hours):

  • Air source heat pump
  • Solar thermal
  • Photo voltaic
  • Battery storage
  • Electric vehicle charging point
  • Client presentation of renewable energy technologies (self-development module).

Practical sessions for low carbon technologies give learners a true practical introduction through the following learning methods:

  • Component identification
  • Fault identification
  • Install and Commission
  • Maintain and Service
  • Set up parameters
  • Monitor a live working system.

Please check out Quantum’s Renewable Training Facilities if you’re interested in a dedicated renewables learning environment.
